Countdown To Date Calculator

Create a countdown to any future date—with optional UTC time and event name. See calendar days, weeks, and approximate months remaining plus a plain-language summary.

Enter a target date to start the countdown.

How it works

Enter a target date (required). The calculator compares it to today’s UTC calendar date for days, weeks, and approximate months—the same calendar-day math as the Days Until Calculator.

Optionally add a target time in UTC. When you do, hours and minutes remaining refresh every second until the instant passes, using the same countdown logic as the Countdown Timer.

An optional event name appears in your countdown summary (for example, “Launch: 45 days until June 1, 2025”).

If the target is in the past, results show how long ago the date was instead of time remaining.

Common uses

Event, vacation, product launch, and deadline countdowns when you want both a readable summary and calendar-day distance—not just a live timer.

  • Event countdown

Name your wedding or conference and share how many calendar days remain.

  • Vacation countdown

Set your departure date; add a flight time for hour-level detail.

  • Launch countdown

Track a ship or release date with an optional UTC launch time.

  • Deadline countdown

See days left until a deliverable—pair with Business Days when weekends matter.

The Days Until Calculator counts calendar days to any future date—or how many days ago a past date was—with an optional include-today setting for planning.

Countdown To Date adds an optional UTC time, event name, and hour/minute updates when you need more detail than calendar days alone.

Seasonal calculators target the next occurrence automatically—no date to enter. Fixed dates include Valentine's Day (February 14), Independence Day (July 4), Halloween (October 31), Christmas (December 25), and New Year's Day (January 1).

Movable US holidays use the same rules as the dynamic event pages: Mother's Day (second Sunday in May), Easter Sunday (Gregorian), Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November), Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving), and Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving).

For a live second-by-second display with hours and minutes, use the Countdown Timer when the target includes a specific time of day in UTC.

FAQ

How do I create a countdown to a date?
Choose your target date and read the summary. Add an event name if you want it in the headline. For calendar days only without naming an event, the Days Until Calculator works the same way with an optional “include today” setting.
Can I include a time in the countdown?
Yes. Enter an optional target time in UTC. Hours and minutes update every second. Leave time blank to focus on calendar days only.
What happens if the date has already passed?
The summary and day count show how many calendar days ago the target was. Hour and minute fields read zero when a past time is used.
