Resignation Notice Calculator

Find the latest date you need to resign to leave your job by a target last working day. Enter your desired last day and notice period length to get the resignation deadline.

Next step: Notice Period Calculator

How it works

Enter the last working day you want and how long your notice period is. The calculator works backward from that target date using the same calendar-day, business-day, and month rules as the Notice Period Calculator—just in reverse.

Calendar-day mode counts every UTC calendar day backward from the target date. Business-day mode skips weekends and can optionally skip a sample US federal holiday list—the same rules as the Notice Period and Add/Subtract Business Days calculators.

The optional “Include last working day” setting treats that day as one of the notice days when enabled; otherwise it is not counted toward the length, matching the Notice Period Calculator's start-date option.

Common uses

The SLA Deadline Calculator adds hours, calendar days, or business days to a start date and time to produce a response or resolution deadline in UTC.

The Add Business Days To Date Calculator advances a start date by a number of business days, skipping weekends and optional US federal holidays. The Subtract Business Days From Date Calculator moves backward by the same rules when you need a date before a deadline.

The Business Days Until Date Calculator counts business days remaining until a target date from today or a custom start date, with calendar days remaining and optional US federal holiday exclusion.

FAQ

How do I calculate when I need to resign?
Enter the last working day you want and your notice period length and unit. The calculator subtracts that length backward from your target date and shows the resignation deadline.
How is this different from the Notice Period Calculator?
The Notice Period Calculator starts from a known notice date and calculates forward to find the end date. This calculator starts from a target last working day and calculates backward to find when notice must be given.
Are weekends and holidays handled the same way?
Yes. Business-day mode skips weekends and can exclude the same sample US federal holiday list used elsewhere on DateToolsHQ.
Is this legal or HR advice?
No. Notice requirements vary by jurisdiction, contract, and company policy. Use this date for planning and confirm with your employer, HR team, or a qualified advisor.
